Meet the IHS Team – Joanne Gribbin, Operations & Enrolments, Unit Leader

It’s time to meet the IHS team again. This month we are delighted to introduce you to Joanne Gribbin

Q1: What qualifications in the Health and Wellness field do you hold?

I hold a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy with IHS, and I am member of NTOI. I also hold a Certificate in Health & Wellness Coaching, Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and I am currently studying a post-graduate diploma in Sports and Exercise Nutrition.

Q2: What is your role at IHS?

I work in the Operations Department, and I am also the module leader for the Personalised Sports Nutrition Module.

Q3: What does your role at IHS look like on a day to day basis?

Well, it can vary hugely. From conducting interviews with prospective students, to answering student queries and providing support, to sending invoices!

Q4: How did you get into the health and wellness industry?

My previous professional life was in the financial services industry. I hold an Honours Degree in Business Studies & Spanish, so this was a natural progression for graduates. I worked in this industry for many years, but it never felt right for me. I discovered IHS and started studying Nutritional Therapy. Immediately I knew this was the career for me. I set up my practice in 2012, and I haven’t looked back!

Q5: What is your philosophy on, and what do you feel are the most important elements of, health and wellness?

I truly believe that balance is key, and everyone’s balance is different. Health and wellness should become part of someone’s life and it should not cause stress or anxiety, if it does there is a problem. People don’t change overnight, it is a process of learning new habits and allowing these habits to become engrained in your belief system. Over the years I have seen people yoyo with health and wellness, and I have also seen people completely transform their lives by allowing the healthy changes they have made become part of their lifestyle and how they live their lives.

Q6: Why do you think individuals should consider a career in health and wellness?

This is a career where you can really have a positive impact on other people’s lives. When a client gives me a hug and tells me how much better they feel, it gives me a great sense of job satisfaction and happiness, which I didn’t get in my previous career. The health and wellness industry is incredibly versatile, and you can really create the career YOU want!
